The Alberta Mycological Society is hosting a membership and donation drive at The Artist Lounge. Join us for our inaugural Calgary Spore Social! The event will begin with a 20 minute presentation on the culinary, and cultural significant of fungi. The presentation will be followed by two servings of mushroom-based tapas. Apart from the mushroom tapas, there will be a selection of finger foods available for snacking. The rest of the evening will be open for socialization. Peruse the space! Our friends from Juice Imports are back with another fun selection of wine to indulge on. Juice Imports is very well known for their selection of natural wines. We have proudly carried their wines on our menu and would like for you to have the experience we get when getting to try their wines when selecting the wines on our menu.

Andrew Steward of Vino Al Vino, will be joining us at The Artist Lounge for wine tasting extravaganza. Andrew and his team are dedicated to importing wines from producers that care about showcasing what their grapes should actually taste like. Alex’s portfolio only consists of premium level sake, which means you are getting the best kinds of sake available. His junmai daiginjo sake ranges from sophisticated wine like experiences to astonishingly vibrant fruit sake. To go along with the sake will be accompanied with some food prepared by The Artist Lounge team.

Mark Couillard will be joining us at The Artist Lounge to show case what the pinnacle of natural wine is. We will be doing a 5 course tasting night with his wines paired perfectly with Chef Trent’s work.

Juice Imports Wine Tasting
Juice Imports brings in some of the most fascinating natural wines. Their focus is to find producers that adopt methodologies, such as: permaculture and regenerative agriculture, to biodynamics. Mark and Erik work very closely with the wineries they import from, so they know for sure their wines have basically no intervention. The wines they pick really showcase of the grapes should taste like, so be ready to try some really mind boggling wines.

Confluence Cocktails and Tapas
Confluence Distilling’s Master Distiller, Ross Alger, will be here at The Artist Lounge for an evening of cocktails and tapas. Confluence Distilling has produced quiet an array of spirits, including: vodka, gin, and even aquavit. They have been awarded multiple medals from the Canadian Artesian Spirit Competition. This night will have specialty curated cocktails that will be paired will tapas dishes. Cocktail pairings with food is very uncommon, but when done right it can really elevate a meal. With the shared knowledge between Ross and Jimmy, be ready to be taken on a rollercoaster of flavours.

Working with curved oak chair backs salvaged from the renovation of the Martha Cohen theatre, Lisa Brawn dives deep into the shallow waters of this current cultural moment to extrapolate a Theatre of the Absurd tour of our imminent future.
